TIP: Use auto login for writing long posts

Unread post by Tim Green »

I strongly advise checking the 'Log me on automatically' box if you plan to write a long post during your current session. If you don't do this you may get logged out automatically while you are editing and this can cause you to lose your text.

When I write long postings I usually prepare them offline and then paste them into the editing box, but it helps to have the automatic login option checked as well.

Tip:
These automatic logouts during long editing sessions happen because the phpBB forum software doesn't register editing as online activity (this is a small defect). You can overcome this problem by clicking on the Preview button at regular intervals. This will reset your online session counter so that you don't get logged out. Personally, I still find it easier to check the auto login box.... :?
