How get transparent background with tear off edges

With the release of TNT v. 2.0 the EC Software screenshot program has become a serious application in its own right, so it was high time that it was given its own forum!

How get transparent background with tear off edges

Unread post by billseven »

I would like the white background to the right of the tear off edge to be transparent. Is there a way to do this?

Thanks!

Bill,

No, this isn't possible -- it would be particularly difficult because of the gradient shadow over the background, which would require a PNG file with an alpha transparency, and it's not possible to display this in Internet Explorer (which includes HTML Help) without some additonal scripting. The shadow also makes it impossible to edit the screenshot in a graphics program and turn it into a transparent GIF, because you won't get the necessary semi-transparent effect beneath the shadow.

The only real solution is to set the background color of your screenshot to the same color as the background where you plan to place. You must avoid having other objects beneath it of course, because it's not really transparent.
