Transparent Background

Unread post by aliddle »

I have the need to create Paper Edge images with a transparent background, so that I can paste into a document where text can be typed right up to the torn edge. It would also be nice if when the shadow is applied the shadow itself is semi-transparent.

Alan,

the image will always be a rectangle, not matter if transparent or not. So that only works with special layout applications that allow you to define a "shape" for an embedded image and let the text flow around it. But that's a feature of that application, not of the image format and if that application can do it, it can do with with non-transparent images as well (because you tell it the approximate shape of the image).

In general, it is pretty difficult to implement this kind of transparency as it requires an alpha mask for the picture. This is only supported with PNG images, no other image format allows a transparency mask. But PNG images with alpha transparency are currently not supported in TNT, sorry.
