Impict rearranges group selections when pasting near edge

Unread post by jeffbronks »

Try this:

Create two drawing objects (e.g. a leader line and a caption) one vertically above the other. The lower object must be adjacent, or very close, to the bottom of the canvas.
Select both objects.
Copy to clipboard (Ctrl-C).
Click a blank part of the canvas to clear the selection.
Paste a copy of the group onto the canvas (Ctrl-V).

Bug: Impict tries to paste the group a short distance below and to the right of its original location. Because the new location is partly outside the canvas, Impict rearranges the members of the group to make them fit. The upper object is pasted where you would expect, below and to the right of its original location, but the lower object gets detached from the group and pasted at the top of the canvas. The pasted group of items now extends all the way from the top to the bottom of the canvas with the items in the wrong relative positions.

I call this a bug becase under no circumstances should Impict change the relative positions of members of a group. It should either let the pasted group extend beyond the canvas (which is possible, because you can drag a group partly off the canvas), or change the destination location to lie entirely on the canvas, or refuse to paste at all.
