Capitalized topic IDs
Every time I create a new topic in H&M the topic ID is automatically capitalized and I have to manually lower-case it. This has become such a habit that I've forgotten what a damn nuisance it really is.
If I don't remember to do this there is a mismatch between the topic ID and the lower-cased topic file name, leading to a risk of errors when I want to copy and paste it into a URL somewhere.
Way back in HM4 I'm sure there was an option to turn this capitalizing off or on, but in HM5 and 6 I can't find it. Does it still exist?
regards,
Martin.

Re: Capitalized topic IDs
Martin,
I've never had this happen to me before, and I think the reason for that is because I always use a Topic ID Prefix.
eg. my prefix is MAN_ - whenever I add a new topic it does a case match to the topic heading.
*edit* - I've just tried this on a brand new project with no settings, and the Topic ID still case matches.
Only difference between the Topic Heading and ID is the underscore where non standard characters are used.
I know this is probably of no help to you, but thought I'd let you know.

Hi Heidi,Aitch wrote:*edit* - I've just tried this on a brand new project with no settings, and the Topic ID still case matches.
Thanks, but that's the whole point -- I don't want it to match the topic heading, I want the ID to case match the topic file name.
It seems such an obvious requirement that I can't understand why it's not that way.
p.s. Actually it doesn't case match the heading -- if you enter an all lower-case topic heading, H&M capitalizes it for the ID.
regards,
Martin.

By Jove, you're right!Martin Wynne wrote:p.s. Actually it doesn't case match the heading -- if you enter an all lower-case topic heading, H&M capitalizes it for the ID.
Oh, and I get what you meant about the filename as well. I should stop replying on Fridays

Re: Capitalized topic IDs
Hi Martin,
I'd never actually noticed this, I'm afraid, but you're absolutely right. It never affects me personally because I always try to write breadcrumb-trail IDs, which means that I always have to create the ID manually. But I can definitely understand the problem if you accept the automatic suggestion. It will be looked into...

Re: Capitalized topic IDs
I'm a bit disappointed that this change didn't make it into 6.1.0
I've been manually lower-casing auto-generated topic IDs for so long, I suppose I can just go on doing it for the rest of my life.
But I just don't get it. The ID is automatically lower-cased for the file name, so why create it capitalized in the first place? Even if you enter an all lower-case topic title it gets capitalized in the suggested ID.
Martin.

Hi Martin,
This was a case of too many cooks... Actually, the change was made in the handling code, but on implementation another piece of older code was merged in that reversed it. Will be corrected soon, sorry about that...

Re: Capitalized topic IDs
Thanks Tim.
Sorry I was a bit grumpy last night.
I do like the new search thingy in 6.1.0, especially the nice big font size.
regards,
Martin.

Funny, the big font size is the one thing I don't like about it.Martin Wynne wrote:I do like the new search thingy in 6.1.0, especially the nice big font size.
Sours an otherwise professional interface for me.

Yes, and the fact that it assumes that the Windows font size is set to the default; and the fact that you cannot use left/right arrow or home/end to edit what you write.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

@Alexander: Can that be fixed?
