2nd monitor - Find and Replace

Unread post by Aitch »

Hi all,

I was going to say that the find and replace option doesn't work anymore, when I realised that it did..... but I can't see the Find and Replace Popup. It appears to be displayed in the second monitor (which I don't have plugged in at the moment).

Is this an H&M issue? and how do I get the menu back on the default screen without connecting another monitor?

Thanks
H

Hi Heidi,

This is a Windows bug. Windows is extremely stupid about how it handles items on additional monitors that are not currently connected, unfortunately. It will happily display dialogs there. You can fix it by pressing SHIFT+Windows Key and then the right or left arrow after activating the dialog. This will move the dialog to the visible window. 8)

Thanks Tim,

I thought as much. But for some reason the Ctrl + Windows key doesn't seem to work either. :(
I press Ctrl + F and then the Ctrl + Windows Keys and no joy.
I have Windows 7... sand even if I press Ctrl + F and then Windows Key + TAB, the popup screen doesn't seem to appear either.
Silly Windows! grrr

Try Windows + Space, then M (for move), then the left/right arrow keys

Heidi,

Sorry, brain fart: That should have been hold down SHIFT+Windows Key and then press the right or left cursor key. I've corrected it in my original post as well... 8)

Thanks Tim, but that doesn't seem to work either.

No popups appear when I press windows+space (or even windows + TAB).. ** and the edited Shift + Windows + arrows*
I think the popup disappears as soon as I press the windows key. I'll have a look when I'm back in the office next week and have two monitors..

It's not a major issue for me at the moment though... just a bit annoying.

Which Tim? You will not see the menu pop-up from Windows+Space because it's on the second monitor, like its window. But you can press M for Move and then the arrow keys work.

However Tim Green's solution is much better, because Windows+Shift only needs one arrow key press to move the focussed window from one monitor to the other.
