I'm creating HTML help, about 1000 pages.
The system (HM7-3624) has been in "indexing" state for over an hour (is this normal)?
"Indexing pages... please wait." (see attachment)
If I run the help in my browser (IE11), sure enough, no text box appears
(see attachment)
any advice?
Thanks
Yosi

Re: Indexing not finishing?
Hi Yosi,
This is a known problem with the new version of the Zoom indexer included in Help & Manual 7. It only occurs on medium to large projects, smaller projects are not affected. We are currently working with Wrensoft to resolve it. It should be fixed soon. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Re: Indexing not finishing?
We can reproduce the problem in the meantime. The reason is a bug in the Zoom full-text indexer, which we use in Help+Manual. We have escalated the problem to the vendor of the full-text indexer and hope to get a fix rather quick.
Workaround
The problem is caused by too many and/or too long file names and path names. The longer the absolute output path is, the more likely it is that the indexing stops. It is the absolute number of files in the output folder (HTML files and images) and the length of the path to the output folder, that triggers it.
If you experience the problem, please temporarily change the output path and make it rather short. For example, do not publish Webhelp to the output path that you normally publish to, but temporarily publish to "C:\hmtmp" or a similar short path. With this change, the indexing should complete normally.
EWriter EBooks affected as well
EWriter eBooks are "Webhelp compiled into an EXE" and work the same way as the Webhelp output. The bug also occurs with EWriter eBooks and the workaround is the same: temporarily change the output path to a short name.
We will supply an update of Help+Manual as soon as we have a fix for the problem.
