Changing the SVG gradients
Hi,
I am making a new skin out of one of the supplied skins (WebHelp_SlateGrey.hmskin).
I'd like to change the SVG gradient that is currently being used for the toolbar (toolbar_gradient.svg).
I have created a new SVG (with different colouring) to the same size as the original and have checked it into the baggage. I have tested it by opening it in Inkscape and it looks just fine.
However...when I publish WebHelp, it continues using the original skin's slate grey SVG. Looking in the HTML output folder, I find it has correctly output the new SVG file. So why isn't the new SVG being used?
Please tell me what I am doing wrong and what I should do.
Thanks,
Dave Willis

Re: Changing the SVG gradients
Hi Dave,
Did you save your new SVG file with exactly the same name as the original one? And did you overwrite the original in the baggage of the skin with yours?

Hi David,
Then the most likely cause is that you just forgot to empty your browser cache (delete temporary internet files) before testing. If you don't clear the cache browsers will often serve up a mixture of old and new files for quite a while.

Re: Changing the SVG gradients
Hi Tim,
I cleared the cache and restarted my PC.
That didn't fix the problem.
I've even used Notepad ++ to directly edit the SVG so it has the same syntax as the original, so it should work.
Still no joy.
Thanks,
Dave Willis

Re: Changing the SVG gradients
I just tried compiling the Get Me Started sample with the skin "Premium Pack 3.15\V2 WebHelp & EWriter Skins\WebHelp_SlateGrey.hmskin". I can see it copies the svg file, but as far as I can see the toolbar gradient is created using css, not svg.David Willis wrote:I'd like to change the SVG gradient that is currently being used for the toolbar (toolbar_gradient.svg)

Aha...thanks for that!
It would be so much easier if it used the SVG.
Now I have to bone up on CSS.

Dave,
Sorry about that -- I had actually forgotten that the SVG files are only used in older versions of Internet Explorer, that cannot do gradients correctly...
