Hi Paul,

This isn't currently possible. It definitely wouldn't be possible for text you choose while printing -- it would be necessary for you to mark text to be excluded from printing in some way in your project. This would probably have to be done with certain styles, probably styles with specific trigger strings in their names. For example, you could say that all styles whose names ended in _nop (for "NoPrint") would be excluded from printing. It would also only work in HTML, not in PDF or Word output, where there is no mechanism for that kind of thing. (In Word you can mark text as hidden and it won't be printed, but then most users won't see it either, unless they configure Word to display hidden text, which 99% won't do...)

Hi Tim,

Am I missing something? Why not use conditional text IF NOT PRINT?

Martin.

HM's conditional text isn't dynamic at runtime. It only works at compile time. The IF_PRINT condition is only true if you are generating a printed manual with the Print Manual option, so it is always false for all other output formats. Whether you used it to include or exclude content, it would be permanently in or out of the published output after publishing and that would be the end of it. The condition tags themselves are stripped after publishing, so there is nothing at all it could do when printing from the published output.

Hi Tim,

Yes, I'm aware of all that. But did Paul ask for a switch at runtime?

It's the same when I am answering questions about my own software. Almost every question requires a major telepathic effort to know what is being asked. :(

For a runtime switch, an ordinary toggle would do?

cheers,

Martin.

Hi Paul,

Untick this option in the Toggle settings:

Merci

I clicked on this option and with the option "remove icon when printing". But when I test in HTML mode and I click the Print button I see the text but no icon.

Hi Paul,

How are you printing HTML?

If you use File > Print in your browser (CTRL+P), toggles will print exactly as displayed on the page, expanded or not.

For topic pages, right-click on the topic, then This Frame > Print Frame.

regards,

Martin.

The Print button will automatically open the toggles before printing. That is standard and cannot be changed.
