Variable at start of a sentence

Unread post by Debbie vanCleef »

Hi!
I use a lot of variables and their values are mostly in lower case letters. When i use a variable at the start of a sentence or title, it looks funny with a lower case letter. Is there a way to format variables to show an upper case first letter in a sentence of a title?

I checked the print manual to see if there is a setting there, but i can't find it.

Is there some way to do this?

Hi Debbie,

Variables contain static text and there is no way to automatically capitalize text once it has been inserted. The only way around this problem is to have two versions of the variable, one capitalized and one not. :?

Ok i'm afraid that's not very practical. I already have separate variables for singular and plurar items. In Dutch not everything is made plural by adding an s at the end. Having 3 variables for one term kind of defeats the purpose.

It would be nice to be able to format variables with the option that Word offers. I hope you recognize the functionality from the Dutch screenshot.

I've passed this on to the development team. I can't promise anything... 8)
