Table in Header

Unread post by Laurel Todd »

I want to put a 2-column table in my header so I can have the page header on the left in Heading 1 font and some additional data in a smaller font right justified. When I do this, it seems to ignore the table and pushes the text in column 2 over to the left. How do I do this? I tried various styleclasses. Attached output. The part in red is what I want to the far right.

To achieve this you need to put both the topic heading and the additional text in the table. Do this:
  1. Delete the heading and insert a two-cell table.
  2. Insert the heading in the left cell and your additional text in the right cell.
  3. Set the width of the table to "fit on page" (this is the same as 100%)
  4. Set the alignment of the text in the right cell to right-aligned OR set a fixed width for the right cell and NO fixed width for the left cell.
It is crucial that the left cell should not have a fixed width, otherwise it won't work. So check it to make absolutely sure.

Note also that this won't work for PDF or DOCX output.
