PDF output; some Hyperlinks dissappearing

Unread post by Ga Bowen »

When producing a pdf some of my internal links are not linking.

The link text is there but just as normal text.

There are no errors being flagged and there are other examples throughout the document.

Any ideas?

Hi Ga,

Check whether the topic you are linking to is really there in the output PDF. The most likely cause of this is that it is being excluded for some reason.

I got some crossed wires on the TOCs I'd created.

Cheers, Tim. Your patience appreciated as always! :)

Easy to do... :)

By the way, the most important non-obvious thing to understand about multiple TOCs is that the first TOC has a special status and function. That TOC cannot exclude topics from output formats that support background topics (WebHelp, CHM, EWriter) just by removing their TOC entries -- you would also need to apply a built option to the topic file, otherwise you would quite likely get it exported without a TOC entry. This means that you shouldn't try to use the first TOC to create "reduced" versions of your project. This will work with any additional TOCs -- there, if you remove a TOC entry it will also remove the topic file from the export.
