What's the current status for using GIT?

Unread post by VincentBevort »

I read some topics on the forum about using GIT together with HMXP projects.

Our company is migrating for its development to GIT and want me to do the same for the documentation.
I already work with SVN and HMXP projects.

I will run a last commit outside of H&M to get everything in SVN and plan to start using GIT but are just interested in the current state.

I've been using GIT without any problems for over a year. I can't really help you with *how* it's set up (an IT person did that for me) but it works.

Hi Vincent,

Eventually we do plan to add active support for git, but it won't be before the release of the next major version of Help+Manual, which is still a long way away. Until then you can use it passively just as you can with any other unsupported version control system that works on XML files: Each user must manually manage their local working copies, doing their updates and commits outside of Help+Manual before and after work.
