What's the right strategy for creating a new tab / topic selection in the Editor -- and still be able to pick up editing where I left off in the old tab?
Scenario of what I want:
I'm busy editing one topic. I run across something that's in another topic that I'd like to see - for example, a target for a possible link in the topic I'm editing.
I right click on the topic that holds the possible target and select "Open in a new tab"
The topic that I'm editing stays put.
The new tab appears, the target topic populates the new tab.
Right now, all I can get is:
I'm busy editing one topic.
I right click on the target topic.
The topic I'm editing changes to the target topic.
The new tab opens and is (also) populated by the target topic.
I want to remain in the topic that I'm editing - I don't want the original tab to also change to the target topic.
How can I do that? I can open another copy of H+M, but the help file is locked by the first copy - I can't edit it. Ideally, I'd like to edit both the first topic and the target topic.

Re: Right strategy for creating a new tab in the Editor
Hi Dave,
Currently you need to first park your current topic in an additional tab. Because of the way the tabs work, the first tab has a special status and all "browsing" happens there. That can't be changed at the moment.

Do this by right-clicking on the topic I'm editing and open in another tab?Tim Green wrote:Currently you need to first park your current topic in an additional tab.

Um, yes...Dave Gehman wrote:Do this by right-clicking on the topic I'm editing and open in another tab?

The Editor tab feature/function really needs improvement. Resetting focus to the first tab when switching between topics creates a lot of pain! Is changing this behavior even on the todo list?
