Unintended whitespaces in .pdf document after export

Unread post by Dominik Hirsch »

Hallo Help & Manual 7 Forum,

i use Help & Manual 7.3.4 and i have the problem, that, when i italicize any word in my .hmxp document and export it to a .pdf document, i get unintended whitespaces after the italicized word in my .pdf document.
How can i fix this?
(Font is "Raleway")

Thanks for your support!

Hi Dominik,
(Font is "Raleway")
Are you embedding the font in the PDF? You should always do that as a matter of course when using non-standard fonts that might not be on the user's computer. Also, try the following two options one after another, in Configuration > Publishing Options > PDF > Font Embedding:
  • Make sure that "Embed font collections as Type3" is activated
  • Change the font embedding option to "Embed CID Fonts" (try that first) and then to "Embed Type3 Fonts".
The Type3 option will almost always solve problems with difficult fonts, but it also reduces the sharpness of the text rendering slightly.

Hi Tim,

thank you for your quick response.
Changing the font embedding option to "Embed CID Fonts" and then to "Embed Type 3 Fonts", did the trick!

Thank you very, very much for your quick support.
