Cannot find short words in search with Chinese WebHelp

Unread post by Chris Middleton »

I cannot find short words using search in a Chinese WebHelp (.html). If a search term is 2 Chinese characters, the result is "The following words are in the skip word list".

Version: 7.5.0.4692
Settings:
Skip words with less than 1 characters
Support for Single Case ON
Accent Insensitive ON or OFF

Similar problem was discussed in the version 6 forum, at https://helpman.it-authoring.com/viewto ... 30&t=12371,
but that solution was just to use the correct settings, above.

Hi Chris,

Your settings are correct here so it must be something else. Just to cover all the bases: Have you checked that the correct flavor of Chinese and font charset are set in your language settings (Config > Common > Language) and that the full support for that flavor is installed on Windows?

If you continue to have problems we need to see a demo project so that we can test it directly. Please save one in single-file .hmxz format and mail it to support AT ec-software.com (replace the AT with @) with a brief description of the steps to reproduce and we'll get onto it right away. :)

Chris,

Another possibility I forgot to mention: You need to make your settings in the .hmskin file, NOT in your project. If you're using a skin to generate WebHelp the WebHelp settings in the project are all ignored because they are replaced by the skin version.
