Cannot Generate Webhelp as HTM Files Anymore

Unread post by Olivier Beltrami »

Hi,

Since moving to the PP responsive skin, the setting of ".htm" for generated files is ignored (instead .html files are generated). I tried to see if there is the same option in the skins, but there seems no way to specify that files should be generated as .htm. If all 2000+ of my pages now change from HTM to HTML, Google will go crazy.

Did I miss an option ?

Very best regards,

Olivier

The Premium Pack skins help says it uses a different method (the extension of the index file) to decide the extension for other files. I don't know how to link to PP help online, but you can find details by following these steps:
  1. * Open H+M help (chm)
    * Open the chapter Help+Manual Premium Pack 3.xx
    * Open V3 Responsive WebHelp Skins
    * Open File Extensions, New URL Syntax, Cache
    * Toggle the File extension of index.html and your topics section
    * Read The topic file extension is no longer determined by the HTML Export Options setting!
It is (to say the least) a shame that the instructions in the main H+M help (here) don't mention this possibility, and that the compiler doesn't warn you when your index extension doesn't match your HTML export setting :frustration:
