As above. Can H+M be used for a documentation intranet?

If not, can someone recommend something?

Hi Ga,

Huge numbers of users use WebHelp generated by Help+Manual in their local intranets. For example, many call centers use HM WebHelp as their knowledge base for their staff answering calls. It is really just the same as putting it on the public Internet, because exactly the same kind of web server is used (usually either Apache or IIS). The only difference is that on the intranet the WebHelp is only available on the local domain.

Hi Ga,

I have created multiple projects over the years for internal use.
They are all used for documentation, work instructions and general information.
All these projects are stored on our own webserver and work fantastic.
Recently I have purchased HelpXplain which is great in combination with webhelp output.

Paul

I'm glad to hear this.

Tim

I'm new to doing this. Do you have any examples you can point me to or even samples?

Paul

That's encouraging to hear. I'd like to know where you use HelpXplain. Intranet tutorials, that sort of thing?

Ga,

I have made about 6 video tutorials so far.
In some cases it is better to use a video instead of written instructions because the things you describe in the tutorial are difficult or tricky.
Some users understand instruction better when they can see what they need to do.
The subject can be anything, in my case I am talking about instructions for Oracle EBS (among other things).
But why not create a video on "how to add a button on the ribbon in MS Excel" for example.

That really isn't necessary, because an intranet web server is identical to an Internet web server. They are exactly the same thing. The only difference is that the intranet is only available on the local domain in your office. WebHelp looks exactly the same on it as it does on the open Internet.
