NEW: eWriter 2.0 with Stand-Alone Viewer Released

Unread post by Tim Green »

We are very proud and excited to announce the release of eWriter 2.0 with a stand-alone Windows Store viewer and a downloadable viewer installer for older versions of Windows. The new eWriter Viewer works with eWriter books created with the existing version of Help+Manual, provided you create them with the extension .ewriter. You no longer need to create EXE eWriter books.

The new eWriter is now a full, modern replacement for both dated CHM files and WebHelp for software documentation. It supports context-sensitive help, works on network drives, opens all calls in a single window and all its components are fully skinnable and scriptable with regular CSS, HTML and JavaScript.

New eWriter site with download links and more

All Windows users can now display your eWriter documentation

You can now distribute your eWriter files as plain data file and be sure that all your users can view it. The files can be downloaded and sent by email without any restrictions. So long as you create your eWriter books with the extension .ewriter, Windows 8 and 10 users will automatically be prompted to get the viewer from the Windows Store when they open the file. This also means that you can now use eWriter as documentation for Windows Store apps.

Plus 32-bit and 64-bit viewers for XP, Vista and Windows 7

Users on older versions of Windows just need to install the free eWriter Viewer. The installer is available here from the new eWriter page:
