Limit of the display text in the toggle

Unread post by Svetlana Akulova »

Hello! I have a long-standing question, a small problem that I had to solve by using fragments. But I have hope that this problem can be solved by some settings.
Is there any limit to the amount of text that is displayed correctly in the toggle? I have a toggle with a lot of information, there are toggles inside it too. There is a bad thing happens when certain rows are reached - the rows are not displayed.
I decided it had to do with the number of lines, because when I expanded the H&M window, the so-called non-display lines shifted lower. But I have already expanded the window to the maximum width of my monitor, and the scale I have 100%, the smallest. And I don't like that I still don't see the lines at the bottom of the switch...
Maybe there is some special setting that regulates this?

Hi Svetlana,

This effect is caused when you exceed the size limits for individual topics, it is not restricted to toggles. When this shaded area appears it means that the topic is too long to be handled by the topic editor. However, when this happens this also means that your topic is already (very!) much too long to be practical as a single topic anyway -- you should really already be creating a new topic a long time before you ever encounter this. Topics that are this long won't be effective because users will not read past a certain point in a single topic. Attention spans on screens are always much shorter than in printed books.

You won't lose any data when this happens. The limitation is on the visible pane that is scrolled in the topic editor window.

To correct this you need to split up the topic into multiple topics. To do this, create a new topic and then cut and paste the content from the top of the affected topic to it. As you do this more content will appear that you can then cut and paste to other new topics.

Thank you, Tim!
I tried using fragments. This our file compiles in html webhelp. Everything seems to be opening well. :)

Svetlana,

Another note: If the text you are putting in a toggle is long enough to cause this effect what I wrote about topics goes for this ten times over: You should never ever have enough text in a toggle to be able to see this. It is probably about 100 times too much text for a toggle if you are seeing this. 8)
