Is there a way to automate list + links to child topics?

Unread post by Dave Gehman »

WebHelp output

We have a new parent topic with 133 new child topics. In the parent topic, is there an automated way to create a list of the subtopics and link to them? The idea is to have a click-able list of the subtopics in the parent topic.

Right now, it looks as though I have to type in the Title of every child, then manually link each one with the lower-level child topic.

Its one of the new HM8 features. Insert Mini TOC. Already used it to replace the manual lists of sub-topics that I had in some documents.

Thanks, sizbut - I would never have found this ("link list" / "mini TOC") since I wouldn't have expressed it in those words.

Very much appreciated.

Of course, all I want now is the ability to propagate the list in n columns (probably 2 columns to allow WebHelp on a tablet.)

The list of 100+ links scrolls on and on in a single column.

Further proof that, if you give people what they want, they'll want more...

Thanks! As already mentioned, we're collecting suggestions for possible improvements to this new tool. It is proving to be very popular and of course people will want more. 8)
