Hi Ron,
It's a convenient place for the items you can insert that have their own special dialogs. I'll check on the icon, you're right there. Normally they shouldn't be confused because I don't think the link list icon can ever be displayed large, but they still shouldn't be the same.

Update: The two icons are very similar but not identical: One shows a page with a link symbol at the bottom, the other a table with a link symbol at the bottom.
