eWriter embedded exe problems

Unread post by Horst_Reichert_PN »

As there is currently no forum for H&M8 bugs I post this here...

1. Create a new default project wth name "eWriteTest" - the structure Introduction Chapter 2 etc. will automatically created
2. Go to export
3. Choose eWriter as output format.
4. Set the output file name to "...\eWriterTest.exe". This will embed the eBock into an executable.
Create some .bat files to open "Second Topic" and "Chapter 2"
5. eWriterTest.exe index.html?Second-topic.html
6. eWriterTest.exe index.html?Chapter-2.html
7. Call 5 -> Second Topic opens - OK
8. Close the viewer.
9. Call 6 -> Chapter 2 opens - OK
10. Do not close the viewer
11. Call 5 -> The viewer shows the default topic only

Seems there is a problem with the inter process comunication if the viewer is embedded. If the viewer is stand allone everithing works as expected.

A little more experimenting let to a solution...

5. eWriterTest.exe eWriterTest.exe index.html?Second-topic.html
6. eWriterTest.exe eWriterTest.exe index.html?Chapter-2.html

gives correct display. You have to tell the viewer that it should look for the embedded resources in itself.

Hi Horst,

We just posted an update to the eViewer application yesterday. This also includes integrated books with an embedded viewer. Please check whether you are still getting the problem with the update:

Use the Pre-Release of 8.1.1 linked there in the announcement.
