hart page breaks in Word ouput

Unread post by Caroline D »

hello,
in the online help of H&M I can read that "Hard page breaks are only used in PDF, printed manuals and Word DOCX". But it doesn't work in my Word output. Should it work in Word outputs?

Hi Caroline,

Yes, page breaks are also supported in Word output. Where are you inserting them?

Manual page breaks for new topics should be inserted at the beginning of the new topic, not at the end of the previous topic. However, you may want to configure page break options for topics in your Word template with the Word tools for your heading styles. Page breaks within topics will occur in the location where you insert the page break.

Hi Tim,
I insert the page break at the beginning of the topic, but it doesn't work. There is no page break in the Word output.

Did you try putting the pagebreak at the start of the first paragraph -- i.e. before "The MPA ..." in this case.

As John points out, you need to put it at the beginning of the first paragraph of the text. Your screenshot shows that you are putting it in the topic header, where it will not have any effect. :?

Hello,
I have put it at the right place and the page break works fine now, thanks.
But the page orientation change (landscape / portrait) doesn't seem to work.

Make sure that your PDF template was edited and saved with the current Help+Manual 8 version of the Manual Designer. Also check that you are using the current version of Help+Manual (8.2).

I am using the Word output (not the PDF output).

The orientation change is currently only for PDF, not for Word. :?
