WebHelp Search - way to turn off highlighting in search hits?

Unread post by Dave Gehman »

Seems to be my week to get requests around searching... here's the latest:

We have people who don't like the yellow highlighting of search terms in the returned hits when using the WebHelp search. Their take on the matter: the highlighting makes the numbered list of hits hard to read.

(The majority of our users primarily deal in objects real or conceptual or in numbers, as many mechanical engineers do; written language is a secondary communications conduit for them.)

Since I know there's a way to do everything in H+M - is there a way to turn off the highlighting?

Hi Dave,

You can turn the highlighting off easily: Edit your skin in HM, go to Configuration > Publishing Options > WebHelp > Full Text Search and you will find an option there for highlighting the search hits, or not. In the Premium Pack skins there are also config variables for setting the colors of the highlights and the background text to make it stand out against the highlight. 8)

Thanks. I'll track down the PPack options.
