Puzzle around editing skins in PPT

Unread post by Dave Gehman »

When I've published in H+M and leave H+M open, I don't seem to be able to edit its WebHelp (HTML) skin in PPT 4.0.4.

Message is" Warning: Check Help+Manual. You have Help+Manual open and skin locking is disabled...."

Given that H+M opens slowly on my computer, I'd like to be able to edit the skin while H+M is open, rather than close H+M and come back to it later.

Is there a way to do this? For example, is there some way to enable skin locking (if indeed that is the attribute that's preventing PPT from opening the skin for editing).

EDIT: I do seem to be able to edit it with H+M open. What is the warning supposed to be warning me about?

Hi Dave,
I do seem to be able to edit it with H+M open. What is the warning supposed to be warning me about?
That's actually included in the warning text: What you want to avoid is trying to edit the skin simultaneously in Help+Manual and Toolbox, as that could cause errors.
