convert svg to png on publication
Hello,
Is there an option to convert svg to png on publication? It would be very useful to have the option for all images, or even better to have it on individual images. It used to be automatic I think.
Thanks
Peter

Re: convert svg to png on publication
Hi Peter,
SVG is only converted to PNG in output formats that don't support it, like CHM, or if the source PNG contains features we know would be problematic. Configurable conversion is only available in the HTML Export Options for CHM and WebHelp for bitmap images (BMP, IPP, TIFF and so on) that are not supported in HTML.
Where do you need to specify the conversion to PNG for SVG?

Thanks,
epub, because Android doesn't expand svgs, and eWriter/Webhelp to protect certain svgs from alteration.
In some ways, image level selection is most useful, because there are some which require labels editing in svg, but not many and I'd rather protect the rest. I could just replace my svgs with pngs, but there are hundreds.

Hi Peter,
Thanks for the explanation, I've passed this on to our developers for consideration.

Hi Peter,
If a browser does not auto-expand SVGs and they are large, I recommend to insert them as toggle.
Which SVGs are altered in eWriter/Webhelp and how does that look like?eWriter/Webhelp to protect certain svgs from alteration

Re: convert svg to png on publication
I mean alteration by opening and editing the svg file.
In some cases I want to allow it, but in the majority a png would be better. I appreciate a png can be edited, but does not have the original drawing information contained in an svg. For example, in Word.
I have found in epub on Android that svgs don't enlarge. OK on iphones apparently.

Or, the ability to convert all project images to png would be handy (it used to do this automatically, until I asked you to include svgs in export )

Re: convert svg to png on publication
Sorry to ressurect an old thread, but I'd really like an option to convert svg to png for epub output. An earlier version used to do this automatically, then it was updated to export svg to epub.
I wondered how much trouble it would be to convert all svg to png for epubs?
Thanks
Peter
