Re-define a style for localisation

Unread post by John Johann »

Moin,
So in my linked repository for all projects I have styles which include italics. That's not so good for Japanese projects. Is there an easy way to redefine a style for a specific project or am I better off using a second linked repository?

Hi John,

You can't put conditions on styles like that; they only have alternative settings for screen (CHM, WebHelp, eWriter) and print (PDF, Word, eBooks) formats. You could use a different style repository, or just a different style for those texts that would be used in the Japanese version.

Thanks Tim.

A quick test in between times with a different style repository seemed to work ok after opening and closing the Japanese test project. If it works it will be a lot easier than changing thousands of occurrences and wondering if I got them all. It also allowed me to see that styles with adjusted character-spacing are also not always a goods idea in other languages. :-)
