Licencing Information

Unread post by Erich Carshagen »

Good day,
Hope that you all are doing well.
I had a request to confirm the meaning of the "Maintenance included until {date}" on the about screen. From my previous experience, this basically means that we can use the current version published before the date in message and if a new release (next one in H&M9) or maintenance build is released, the licenses will need to upgraded to make use of these updates. Is this correct, or is there something I am missing?
Thank you
Erich

Hi Erich,

That's not quite correct. The license is perpetual, so you can go on using the program as long as you like, even if the maintenance has expired. Maintenance gives you access to the ongoing updates and upgrades (including upgrades to the next major version, when that is released). In addition to this there is also a 30-day grace period in which you can continue to install new updates to your current version even if the Maintenance has already expired.

Maintenance extensions for the individual products and versions can be purchased on these pages:

HM8 Basic: https://ec-software.cleverbridge.com/99 ... art=224744
HM 8 Pro: https://ec-software.cleverbridge.com/99 ... art=224743
HM 8 Floating: https://ec-software.cleverbridge.com/99 ... art=224745
HelpXplain: https://ec-software.cleverbridge.com/99 ... art=220953

Notes:

Floating licenses: You need to purchase the same number of maintenance keys as you have floating licenses. The extension keys must all be entered on the same computer, or with the floating license management utility.

Maintenance display in the program: The display of the maintenance status won't be updated immediately after applying the maintenance key because we strive to minimize access to our online servers. It will appear after a while, or if you execute the update check function in the Help tab.

Tim (EC Software Documentation & User Support)

Hi Tim,

Thank you for the reply. I realised there has been a change for HM8 and that the model has changed. I will be in touch with the support team to get an quote if the business wants to purchase additional maintenance.

Please mark the ticket as complete.

Thank you
Erich :D
