Secure Login to website?

Unread post by Rossco »

Hi all,
anyone here know how to easily implement a secure login to a website?

I currently have a test site up, which has only got the H&M, browser based help file, uploaded to it, and was wanting to make it so that anyone going to the site has to login. That way, general public will not have access.

Any help appreciated

kind regards

There are several ways, including use of forum or cms software to control access to registered users, or password protecting directories using the tools provided by your web host, or using .htaccess if you're on a *nix/apache system. See
http://www.webnet77.com/cgi-bin/helpers/htaccess.cgi
http://www.tools.dynamicdrive.com/password/
for a couple of .htaccess tools, or Google for ".htaccess wizard"

Thanks Jack,

much appreciated, I didn't even think to check with the web host, and it appears they do have some options :)
