Fluency from Western Standard is a translation system that can edit H&M XML projects directly. It is a translation memory based system like Trados, which stores existing translations and automatically applies them when new text contains the same words, phrases and sentences. It can import existing translation memories from Trados and other systems, and also comes with very comprehensive dictionaries for your chosen target languages.

In terms of pricing, ease of use and capabilities Fluency is a potentially attractive solution for users for whom using an XML editor is not enough and more comprehensive systems like SDL Trados would be more, and more complicated, than they really need.

We became aware of it when several users wrote to us and reported that they had achieved good results with it translating Help & Manual project files. We contacted Western Standard and started testing the program ourselves. They have been very responsive and have already quickly implemented several major improvements in the way that Fluency handles Help & Manual project files. You can now load an entire folder of Help & Manual topic XML files in a single operation, and any topic files in sub-folders you have created will also be imported. Re-export of the translated files is clean, and the translated projects re-load in Help & Manual just like native projects.

We would definitely suggest that you give it a try and send your feedback to Western Standard. As I said, the Western Standard team is very responsive. They add changes and improvements very quickly and they are eager to improve support for Help & Manual.
