Premium Pack Updates

Unread post by Tim Green »

The Premium Pack 1.x and 2.x packages have both been updated for compatibility with Help & Manual 6.3. This was necessary to support the new option that makes it possible to link to CHM context ID numbers with URLs in WebHelp, so that your programmers can use the same IDs for linking to both CHM help files and the WebHelp versions. In addition to this all three packages (including 1.x for HM5) have also been updated to correct a couple of very obscure potential cross-site scripting vulnerabilities that we have become aware of (to the best of our knowledge, these have never been exploited).

How to get the updates:

If you are a registered user of any of these Premium Pack packages (1.x for HM5, 1.x for HM6, 2.x for HM6) you can get the new 1.56 and 2.20 versions with the download link and installation key you received when you purchased the Premium Pack. If you have misplaced those please contact support AT ec-software.com (replace the AT with @) and we will help you out.

In addition to the above, the following minor fixes and improvements are included in the updates:

Premium Pack 2.20 WebHelp skins:
  • Support for CHM context IDs in WebHelp URLs:
    See above for details.
  • Disqus comments and responses count:
The number of comments and responses to the current topic is now shown automatically in the comment links at the top and bottom of each topic page. (This was not yet ready in the previous 2.15 update.)
  • Share button:
Two variables for the Share button in the main layout page were terminated incorrectly, causing errors in Internet Explorer (Print button didn't work, some spurious error messages).
  • Touchscreen Windows 8 devices:
Some new Windows 8 devices and PCs with touchscreens were incorrectly identified as mobile instead of desktop devices.
  • Tabs and hyperlinks in undocked topics:
The tab in undocked topic windows had an active link that made the content disappear in Internet Explorer. The hyperlinks in undocked topic windows failed in Internet Explorer 9 and later because of changes in IE.
Premium Pack 1.56 Classic skins for HM6 (now identical in the PP 2 and PP 1 update package for HM6):
  • Support for CHM context IDs in WebHelp URLs:
    See above for details.
  • Version 2.2 version of iPad skin in 1.56 update package:
The 2.2 version of the iPad skin with offline Web App capability is now included in the normal 1.x update package for Help & Manual 6.
  • Disqus comments and responses count:
The number of comments and responses to the current topic is now shown automatically in the comment links at the top and bottom of each topic page. (This was not yet ready in the previous 2.15 update.)
  • Topic header initialization failure in Internet Explorer:
Some Internet Explorer users in Russia (only there, strangely) have reported that the topic header fails to initialize correctly in the classic skins on first load, so that the topic text overlaps the topic header. This problem goes away if the topic is reloaded. An additional fix for this has been added to the IE_LOADBUGFIX configuration variable that should solve this issue as well when you activate it.
