What's going on at EC Software? Help & Manual version 3.

Unread post by Alexander Halser »

We are performing the final tests for version 3.1 which comes with several new features and improvements.

Version 3.1 will be available by next week and announced here.
  • Delphi / C++Builder integration is completed, the beta phase is finished. The setup now includes an (updated) version of the Delphi wizards which integrate directly into the IDE (Delphi 5 + 6, C++ Builder 5 + 6).

Explicit page breaks: Version 3.1 now has an alternativeto the keep-together and keep-next paragraph options, which are difficult to use. A new page break object is available from the Insert menu.

Improved table handling: no more flickering when activating a larger table

Improved variable handling: text variables can be used in the table of contents, in keywords as well as in link captions.

Improved topic status: the status dialog window got a short cut (Ctrl + Alt + S) and each topic status a number (1 - 4) for quicker keyboard access. A new option was added in "Tools|Customize" that sets the topic status to a value of your choice after changes to a topic have been made.

Quick launch function: the "Make help file and run" toolbar button has a drop down menu that lets you quickly compile your help in a particular format, bypassing the Make dialog box.

Several minor UI improvements. Examples: text variable dialog is sizeable, bookmarks dialog suggests an annotation to the current topic if one is selected, Find & Replace returns the number of replaced words, and many more.)
