When hovering over an entry in the PExplorer show tooltip
It would be nice to have a tooltip showing when hovering over any item in the Projekt Explorer showing info about that topic, including:
- Builds this topic is assigned to
- Topic ID
- Featured Image yes or no
- topic variables

Hi Tobias,
You can already activate tooltips with information in the Project Explorer, although they may not include everything you need for perfect happiness. Turn them on in View > Program Options > General. What you need to activate are "Mouseover hints for buttons and objects in text" and "Detailed mouseover hints in Project Explorer".

Click in the TOC to make sure it is selected. Then hover the mouse over a TOC entry and wait for a second or two.Tobias Escher wrote:both are activated, but I do not see any tooltips.

Do a clean install to clear up your registry settings:Tobias Escher wrote:Nope - no tooltips here (7.1 b3898),
1: Uninstall Help & Manual in the Windows Control Panel (Add/Remove Programs)
2: In the Windows Start menu select Run and enter "regedit" to start the Registry Editor. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > ECSOFTWARE. Select the "Help & Manual 7" key (folder) and press DELETE to delete it.
3: Reinstall

Did that, re-registered H+M, but still no tooltips.

Then it must have something to do with your entire computer system. Try installing on another machine. You should find that it will work there -- unless that also has the same thing installed that is interfering on your current machine.Tobias Escher wrote:Did that, re-registered H+M, but still no tooltips.

Re: When hovering over an entry in the PExplorer show toolti
My Surface Pro 4 also shows no tooltips. The only non-standard software (= not already on when I bought it) is StaffPad and Chrome.
I don't recall ever seeing tooltips, otherwise I would not have suggested adding them. Since starting to use H+M I have switched from Win 7 to Win 8 to Win 10, each with a re-installation. 2 different PCs (even different CPUs).
Is there any way to find our what prevents the tooltips from showing?

Hi Tobias,
This is strange. I have a Surface Pro 3 running Windows 10 with no problems at all. Our developers are trying to think of what might be causing it. It would be good do know if you see the tooltips on any other Windows 10 computer when you install HM 7.

I tried it on the system of a colleague and there it works.
Still doesn't work on mine I see tooltips in other positions (toolbar for example), but not in the project explorer.

Sorry to insist, but have you really activated both options in File -> Program Options?
I can only duplicate the behaviour you describe when the first option is on and the second is not.

I still have not found a way to get the tooltips back and now I fear other features are not working, either.
Is there anything I can do to find out what is preventing the tooltips from appearing?
