report hard formatted text - ignore syntax highlighting
Hi,
all of our text is formatted with styles.
The report for finding hard formatted text works fine but it also shows text, which is formatted with syntax highlighting, such as xml or sql.
It would be fine, if the output of this report doesn't contain this kind of text.
Thanks in advance
Petra

To create styles that include the syntax highlighting setting:Petra Zamburek wrote:all of our text is formatted with styles. The report for finding hard formatted text works fine but it also shows text, which is formatted with syntax highlighting, such as xml or sql.
- Enter some text and select it.
- Apply syntax highlighting in the appropriate language, e.g. 'SQL'.
- Re-select the text.
- In the 'Write' ribbon, click 'Styles' > 'Create Style from Selection...'
- In the 'Make Selection a Style' dialog, enter a new style name, e.g. "Code in SQL" and click 'OK'.
The new style can be applied to other paragraphs in the usual way, and the Custom Styles Report will not report such styled text as being individually styled.

Re: report hard formatted text - ignore syntax highlighting
Hi Simon,
thank you for your hint.
We have already a style for XML-, C#- and SQL-Code, but this style just defines font and size, not the coloring for keywords and so on.
Using the syntax highlighting, part of the text are individually formatted: brown, blue, dark blue ...
These parts are reported as hardformatted text.
Or did i miss something?

Petra, I've got this wrong. My steps don't do what you want: sorry for wasting your time.

Hi Simon,
no problem, doesn't matter.
So let's hope for a brand new and exciting solution in ham (yes, i mean ham (our internal shortcut for h&m) and no, no, not ham (as some of us expected, because they were hungry, hihi).

Re: report hard formatted text - ignore syntax highlighting
Hi Petra,
We've changed this so that the manual formatting generated by the Code Example used by syntax highlighting is always ignored automatically. You can test it out in the current stable beta if you want:
http://download.ec-software.com/help-an ... 0-beta.exe

Re: report hard formatted text - ignore syntax highlighting
Hi Tim,
oh, wow, i really would like to test this, but installing a beta at the office ... (at home i would try it, but i have no licence)
This has to be discussed with my colleague
I'm really looking forward to try it!
Tanks,
Petra
BTW: do you know, when we can expect the next update?

Re: report hard formatted text - ignore syntax highlighting
Hi Petra,
7.2 is due out in October at the earliest. You can test at home in trial mode without registering the program, however. Everything will work fine; you'll just get a copyright notice in every topic in the output, random links will be disabled and as time goes on the output text will be increasingly scrambled (mojibake...).
