Topic Last Modified Date

Unread post by Natalia T »

Hi,

We're trying to develop a custom webhelp skin and got a bit confused with the topic last edited date.

Where is it stored? Assume it should be in table_of_contents.xml file, but in fact the modified attribute there does not show real last topic modification dates.
While inside H&M everything is fine.

Could you pls explain?
Thanks!

The modified attribute in table_of_contents is the last change for that topic in the TOC.
The last change of the topic itself shown in Topic options -> Last edited is the timestamp of the file.
The user is in the attribute lasteditedby in the topic XML-file.

Hi Natalia,

If you're looking to use the topic-last-edited date in a skin you can get the date and time of the last edit with the <%TOPICLASTEDITED%> and <%TOPICLASTEDITEDTIME%> variables. You can also use the <%TOPICLASTEDITEDUSER%> variable to get the name of the last user who edited the topic. All three variables are only valid in the HTML page template or the body of a topic.

You can decide whether the HTML files generated in your output have the timestamps of the publish time or of the last edited time. This is set in Configuration > Publishing Options > WebHelp > HTML Export Options.
