Wrong encoding in PDF Header with cyrillic symbols

Unread post by Elena Milenia »

Image

Google gives wrong symbols with the request "три уровня доступа AAN".
Yandex doesn't have such problem.

Is the problem is in HMXZ-properties or in H&M preferences or in PDF Template?

Thank you in advance.

Hi Elena,

What are the language and font settings in your PDF? For Russian in Help+Manual 6 you need to set the language to Russian and the font charset to RUSSIAN_CHARSET. In Configuration > Publishing Options > Font Embedding you need to embed all fonts and set CID Font Mode to UNICODE. You also need to be careful to choose either full Unicode fonts or fonts that include the full Russian Cyrillic character set. This also applies for your font settings in the PDF template for all the texts you use there, because that controls the text in the template and thus also the PDF attributes.

Please also check with Help > About to make sure you are using the current version of the program. The current version of HM6 is 6.5.6 Build 3027. You can download the installer here (just install on top of your current version to update):

Hi Tim,

THank you for your answer! But updating to HM6 give me another problem.
Simetimes it's ok, simetimes there is an error like this
?: e:\jenkins\workspace\itrium-docs\svn\KeeperVideoXServices\KeeperVideoXServices.hmxz
> "C:\Program Files (x86)\EC Software\HelpAndManual6\helpman.exe" "e:\jenkins\workspace\itrium-docs\svn\KeeperVideoXServices\KeeperVideoXServices.hmxz" /CHM="e:\jenkins\workspace\itrium-docs\output\itrium\chm\driver_IP_camer.chm" /I=FOOTER /V="e:\jenkins\workspace\itrium-docs\itrium.var" /O=e:\jenkins\workspace\itrium-docs\svn\Templates\chm_html.hmskin /PDF="e:\jenkins\workspace\itrium-docs\output\itrium\pdf\Driver_IP-kamer.pdf" /V="e:\jenkins\workspace\itrium-docs\itrium.var" /TEMPLATE="e:\jenkins\workspace\itrium-docs\svn\Templates\itrium_times.mnl" /L=e:\jenkins\workspace\itrium-docs\hm.log
ERROR: H&M reports that something went wrong (code=2); terminating; check log at e:\jenkins\workspace\itrium-docs\hm.log

:) okay, I'll help you with that - here it is:

Hi Elena,

Your warnings are coming for the CHM version, not for the PDF version. You just need to check the links in the referenced topics, which will include references to anchors that are not there. Then just correct those links.
