I have a test video in mp4 format (recorded using PowerPoint(r)).
I linked the video as a local file.
When I publish to CHM, I get the error "HHC5003: Error: Compilation failed while compiling test.mp4."
The following files were not compiled:
test.mp4
Under Files to distribute, I get:
You must deploy the following files:
path\abcde.chm
path\test.mp4
Does the error only indicate that the files are separate or will it not work?
Linking to an online video is not an option.
CHM -- video -- mp4

Re: CHM -- video -- mp4
Hi John,
CHM has a lot of restrictions on external files. If you want to get a video to work reliably in CHM the very best way is to put it on YouTube or Vimeo and let them handle compatibility, using the options for inserting YouTube and Vimeo in HM.
If you're providing the video with the CHM it must be stored in the same folder as the CHM (you must put it there together with your CHM) and you must use the Help+Manual's media tool in the Write tab to insert it. The file must have no spaces or special characters in the file name.
To test, put the CHM and the video file in the same folder, run the CHM and try to play the video.
