GIT support

Unread post by Dan Rosen »

Just installed H&M 8. Any chance that GIT support will be coming soon? We are transitioning from SVN to GIT and H&M seems to be the last application we use that doesn't have GIT support.

Hi Dan,

Support for git (that's actually how it's written) will be coming in a point release but wasn't in the original release. However, "active" support is really only a convenience, not a necessity. It's quite possible and simple to use git or any other version control system passively. Each user pulls their own local working copy from the repository, performs an update on it before they start working and a commit when they're finished. All you lose is the ability to perform updates and commits from within the program and the status icons in the TOC.

Hi Tim,

Visual Studio's version control support has made some members of our team "lazy" and they prefer in-app version control support rather than resorting to the command line or 3rd party tools. Anyway, good to hear that "support for git" will be coming in a future point release.

I would also be happy about an integration of Git in H+M (currently working with V7 and would make an upgrade)
