In continuing my work to use eViewer as a replacement for .chm I tried building with the PP_DEMO_V3_eWriter skin.
This takes a very long time (compared to the non premium pack WebHelp skins) and generates a ginormous file... When I run the output, eViewer crashes with:
Out of stack space in hmcontent.html line 717 col 4 (I have attached a screen dump).

Hi Greg,
We've never seen this one before. How large is your project and your TOC, how many topics?

Re: eViewer very slow to compile, out of stack space
How big... well a PDF version is 1006 A4 pages and with links underlined it is 12.7 MB (interestingly with the option set to not underline links it is 15.3 MB). The .hmxz file is 12MB. The .chm file is 10.7 MB. When built as eWriter output using the simplest WebHelp skin the output is 13.3 MB. However, as soon as you apply the demo premium pack it takes a l o n g time to compile (many times longer than with the simple WebHelp skin... as though every single page get all the HTML repeated) and the result is many times larger (I'm afraid I threw it away as it was unuseable so I cannot tell you how big it was... I seem to recall seeing an 85 MB file, but this may have been uncompressed).
The TOC has 22 'chapters' and within this there are levels of headings. I can send you a .zip of the whole thing (on your assurance of confidentiality).

Hi Greg,
Yes, please do send me a zip of the project at support AT ec-software.com (replace the AT with @). Best not as a download link rather than a mail attachment as the mail server is increasingly stripping attachments that contain HTML content.

Re: eViewer very slow to compile, out of stack space
Hi Tim,
I have just zipped it all up and deleted everything I think that is not needed and it comes to 40 MB... which is a bit big for an attachment (and likely will be stripped by our mail server). More than half of the size is the screen shots.
What do you suggest? We have a Send this file service for customers to send us huge things... do you have anything similar?
Best wishes,
Greg

Hi Greg,
The Firefox Send service is great for this. It's free and you can use it with any browser:
https://send.firefox.com/
Important: Set the expiry to more than 24 hours. The links often expire too soon otherwise and then we can't get the download.
