eWriter positions in registry and multiple monitors
As there is currently no forum for Help+Manual 8 bugs, I post this issue here...
Set your project eWriter output to store position in registry.
Export your project to eWriter.
In my case I export to an embedded .exe
Start the help project.
On first start it opens fine with the windows settings height/width set within the project.
On my dual monitor system this is the primary screen.
Maximize the window.
Reduce again from maximized state.
Everithing is OK as supposed
Move the window to the secondary screen and maximize.
Close the window.
Open again, the window opens on the second screen maximized.
Click at the reduce button again, the size is not the original one but some minimum size.

p.s.
The help page starts maximized only on the monitor where the viewer .exe is placed e.g. in explorer

Re: eWriter positions in registry and multiple monitors
Hi Horst,
Thanks for reporting this. Our developers are looking into it.
It actually doesn't have anything to do with multiple monitors. The problem is that if the eWriter viewer starts maximized after storing its position in the Registry it does not have or find the correct dimensions for the smaller size.

Re: eWriter positions in registry and multiple monitors
Hi Tim,
I installed the Pre-Release of 8.1.1. The problem with the small size after maximizing reducing has been fixed.
But the active sceen when maximized is still not stored correctly.
You need a dual monitor setup to see this.
1. Create an embedded exe eWriter file with storage of position in registry set.
2. Place a Windows explorer window to the left screen
3. Navigate to the created exe and open.
4. Now drag the help viewer window to the right screen and maximize.
5. Close the viewer window.
6. Open the exe again. The viewer will open maximized on the left screen instead the right.
7. If you drag the explorer window to the right screen, the viewer will open at the right screen.
regards Horst

Re: eWriter positions in registry and multiple monitors
Hi Horst,
I can reproduce this both with .exe and .ewriter books. It only happens when the eViewer is maximized when closed. If it is non-maximized it re-opens in the monitor in which it was closed. We're looking into this and it will be fixed for the official release of 8.1.1.

Re: eWriter positions in registry and multiple monitors
Hi Horst,
This got overlooked, but you can get it with an update to the eWriter viewer that just went online:
https://www.helpandmanual.com/ewriter/index.html
If you use that viewer you won't have that problem any more. It will be installed in the eWriter Viewer folder in the EC Software program directory.
