Resizing text

Unread post by tatar027 »

Hello,

Would anyone be able to advise on how to use H&M to enable users to resize text in WebHelp up to 200% without loss of content or functionality?

We are aiming to meet this accessibility criterion: https://www.w3.org/WAI/WCAG21/Understanding/resize-text

Thank you,
Taylor

Hi Taylor,

The Premium Pack skins include an option for the user to resize the text within the user interface. You can see this in action in the online version of the Help+Manual documentation here:

https://www.helpandmanual.com/help/index.html

Select the hamburger menu at the top right and there you can increase and decrease the text size. Note that this has a limiter that prevents the text from being made too large or too small. I can no longer remember offhand whether it conforms to an artificial value of 200% -- I think the settings are quite conservative -- but it would easily be possible to change that with a simple edit in the skin.

Also, if you change the page zoom to 200% there you should find that it looks silly, but everything should be visible because the content is OK.

Hi Tim,

Thank you for this, that is very useful. We use custom skins for our help - would we need to remake the skins to use this setting, or would it be possible to update this setting in our existing skins after getting the Premium Pack?

Thank you again,
Taylor
