This will work for a multi-level list. My list is a one-level list, cf. my screenshots from November 29:
viewtopic.php?p=73201#p73201
So selecting the whole list does not help me making one list item bulletted while leaving the rest of the list items numbered.
You covered this part of the task in your comment from November 29:
viewtopic.php?p=73202#p73202
I get 2 lists when I follow this advice (as you pointed out already). In your new advice you cover the part of changing the kind of list and the indent, omitting the part of creating one bulletted item within a one-level numbered list. I think this would be important, as I get 2 lists with your advice from November 29, whereas your new advice works for one list only, as the first list item has to control the whole list.
I am sure you can help me to bring everything in a logic harmony.

Re: Bullet from Unicode
You can't do that directly. A single-level list can either be numbered or bulleted. Not both. What you need to do in that case is split the list in the middle with a single-entry bulleted list between the first and second parts:So selecting the whole list does not help me making one list item bulletted while leaving the rest of the list items numbered.
1: Create the whole list as a numbered list, formatted as you want to have it.
2: Click in the entry you want to have bulleted and click ONCE in the NUMBERED list tool to de-list it. The main list now continues the numbering below the now non-list item.
3: Now click in the new non-list item and click once in the BULLETED list tool to make it a bulleted list.

Re: Bullet from Unicode
Thank you!
The result is:
The indent of the bulleted item is different from the numbered one (feature, as you explained earlier, because there are 2 lists, one with type=ol, one with type=ul). The formatting of the first numbered item does not control the bulleted item (feature, as it is a separate list, id=3 type=ul). Changing the bulleted item in the editor with the paragraph tool in the ruler above the editor is not possible.
As I already wrote, I found a workaround in the XML view for the indent. I mentioned this way to do it in viewtopic.php?p=73299#p73299 as "workaround". I imagine the bulleted item is independent enough to get its own indent automatically (separate list, id=3), but too much part of the numbered list to be regarded as 1st item capable of controlling the list formatting.
I can format the bulleted item either
The result is:
Code: Select all
<list id="2" type="ol" listtype="decimal" formatstring="%0:s." format-charset="DEFAULT_CHARSET" levelreset="true" legalstyle="false" startfrom="1" styleclass="Normal" style="text-indent:-22px; margin-left:22px; font-family:Arial; font-size:10pt; color:#000000;">

I can format the bulleted item either
- in the XML view or
- in the paragraph settings dialog,

Re: Bullet from Unicode
Of course it is, because it is now a separate list. You will have to format that separately. The numbered list is a single list with a break. The bulleted list is an additional list inserted in the middle. The indent of the bulleted item is different from the numbered one

Re: Bullet from Unicode
I understand it is a separate list, so I would expect it can be treated like any other list.Of course it is, because it is now a separate list. You will have to format that separately.
When I try to change the indent of the bulleted list item according to the corresponding help topic https://www.helpandmanual.com/help/hm_w ... tyles.html ("How to change list indents" section), it is impossible: The the paragraph tool in the ruler above the editor is not active and cannot be moved to change the indent.
Of course I could ignore this fact and find a different solution other than the one give in the documentation (I found them already, even two solutions). This being a public forum, I nevertheless would like to know why the solution in the help topic is not applicable in this case. I would expect it to be applicable for every list given that the cursor is in its first item. For my list with the bullet point (id=3) this is not the case, and I do not understand why not. I think this could be interesting for everyone.
If nobody else can reproduce my scenario, then maybe I did something wrong?

Re: Bullet from Unicode
That's true and I'll ask our devs to check that. I've never noticed it personally because I would never use that for adjusting an indent like this anyway -- it's just not accurate enough to set an exact indent matching another one, which is what you need here. Instead, either apply a style with the required hanging indent, or set the indent manually with the paragraph dialog, by clicking on the little icon in the lower right corner of the Paragraph section in the Write tab.The the paragraph tool in the ruler above the editor is not active and cannot be moved to change the indent.

Re: Bullet from Unicode
Thank you, Tim, for the answer. I will bear this in mind.
@Simon_Dismore: Thank you for your hint! In my case MS Windows is the only OS I have to consider. Still it is sensible to keep the project as universal as possible.
