Hello Tim,
In the FAQ I read that the admin decides which file types are allowed in the forum.
Is there any possiblity of sending mp4 files? Or at least zip files? They seem to be forbidden. What do you suggest? The question of attachments is important in many ways. I use the forum as a source of information as well, and in many old topics the attachments are deleted, so the information gets lost. How is it ment to be?

Re: Attachment file type
Old files would not be relevant any more, so it is a good thing that they are no longer available. And no, we're not going to allow MP4 or zip attachments. Video files would be too large, and zips are always potential malware. So no. The forum is for discussion and information, not for software and video distribution.

Re: Attachment file type
I understand, although it is a pity nevertheless. In my case it would have been a screencast (I have no HelpXplain).Tim Green wrote: Tue Feb 18, 2025 12:28 pm The forum is for discussion and information, not for software and video distribution.
Re: Attachment file type
I disagree. Screenshots are an essential part of a post. At the same time, screenshots are attachment files. Old screenshots are still relevant when using the forum as a source of information. Thus, old files can be still relevant and should not be deleted.Old files would not be relevant any more
Screencasts can have the same function as screenshots (essential part of a post). For H+M users without HelpXPlain screencasts are usually MP4. So they should be allowed, maybe with a maximum size.Video files would be too large
In the Templates & Utilities section you write: “Utilities and multiple files can be posted in ZIP archives.” Please allow zip files or suggest another way to share our utilities or multiple files.zips are always potential malware. So no.
