Sorry for the newbie question. I see the XML files sometimes number incrementally. Is that to show changes and version control?

Hi Ken,
They only get numbers if you copy a topic file that already exists. You're not allowed to have two topics with the same ID/filename, so Help+Manual automatically adds an incremental number to the ID (which is also the XML filename) to prevent conflicts.

So should I try to delete the duplicate xml files to keep the project clean.

Well, first check that they are really 1:1 duplicates, or rather, which one has been edited in the meantime and which one you really want to keep.
