Find & Replace via Keyboard?

Unread post by Stefan Malz »

Hi,

We are currently still using Help&Manual 7, where Find & Replace is not easily used by keyboard only. Did this change in Help+Manual 8? That would be a reason to upgrade...

The use-case: We frequently need to replace _most_ (but not all) occurrences of a specific word with the same word, but in a different style (e.g. another font type and/or color) over all topics. In most editors (Notepad+, Word, Visual Studio), we would copy the word using the new style into the clipboard, search for the word over all files/topics, continue by pressing F3 (without any dialog coming up) and press Ctrl+V for each occurrence we want to replace. In Help&Manual 7, afaik, there is no way to continue searching by keyboard without a dialog appearing (which would completely destroy any workflow). The Find & Replace dialog does not support anything beyond plain text, the Replace Styles dialog does not allow to enter a word to search and does not allow to acknowledge/skip any single occurrence.

Any chance this would work better in Help+Manual 8?

Hi Stefan,

Find and replace with styles and searching without a dialog are not currently available. We may be adding them in a future version. Sorry about that. :?
