How to hide a topic but still make it opened by a direct link

Unread post by valery_ly »

Hi! Сould you advise something on the subject of how to make sure that the topic is hidden on the TOC, but it's still could be opened by a direct link?
The project is assembling using tags. If the topic has not a tag or is tagged with the not included option, this topic is not available via its direct link.

Hi Valery,

The TOC entry and the topic file each have their own build options. Normally, applying a build option tag on a topic in the TOC will exclude both the TOC entry and the topic file. If you only want to exclude the TOC entry, go to Project Files > Topic Files. Locate the topic there (the filenames are the topic ID), right-click on it and change its build option to include it. Then settings for TOC entry and the file will be different and the TOC entry will be excluded and the topic file will be included.

Note that this won't work for PDF and Word files. There, there is only one file for the entire project, and excluding the TOC entry always also excludes the topic.
