Control of the "page" size in Web-Help

Unread post by Carel Schilp »

Hello everybody,

When a user opens a Topic in a Web-Help project, what or who controls the topic page size the user gets to see?

Is it the size of the Browser window at that moment, or can the Web-Help creator control it?

I've looked in the Help, but didn't find anything.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Carel.

Hi Carel,

As with all web pages, the user controls the size of the browser window. It is not the business of the web designer to interfere there, and you should never try to do so. Instead, you need to design your pages to adapt to whatever window size the user sets. Some skins in the Premium Pack allow you to set a maximum width for the help content to prevent it from getting too wide, for example if the user has their browser full screen on a very large monitor. But that is the absolute limit of the kind of "window control" that the web designer should ever attempt.

Good morning Tim,

Yes, a maximum width is exactly what I am looking for.

Thanks for putting this in perspective Tim.

Regards,

Carel.
