Skin features from H+M Manual

Unread post by BertholdL »

I like some features from the H+M Manual:
  • TOC entry icons (closed book/open book/sheet of paper)
  • broad margin between TOC area and topic area with double arrow symbol
TOC_Icons.png
Double_arrow_icon.png
Maybe these things can be configured in the PP skins?
I need it for ewriter, so either V5 or V3 skins (V4 has no ewriter skins, correct?).

Best regards
Berthold

Hi Berthold,

Those things are not configurable. The TOC icon set can always be changed, however, in the HTML Options. Or just by replacing the icons with your own versions in the baggage (toc_chapter_open.svg, toc_chapter_closed_svg and toc_topic.svg).
V4 has no ewriter skins, correct?
Currently only the skins labeled eWriter are for eWriter. This will change in the next major version.

Thank you, this is nice. Is the option in the H+M project also relevant?
https://www.helpandmanual.com/help/hm_w ... _icon.html, "How to change the topic icon and status color?"

Or is it overwritten by the skin?

Where can I find the SVG files for the modern book icons you are using in your own manuals?

Regards
Berthold

When the setting is in the skin, that has priority. This all works through XML overloads, so the last setting applied always wins.

That's actually a very old and manually modified version of the skin. Those aren't SVG icons, they're PNGs. Instead of using those, it would be much better to pick up the integrated icons from Help+Manual 10, which are SVGs:
  1. Create a new, empty project with just one topic with one sub-topic.
  2. Right-click on the chapter in the TOC and choose the chapter icon you want for it. Use ONLY one of the four chapter icon pairs at the top of the list, All the others are topic icons. ONLY choose the closed version. The open version is automatic.
  3. Right-click on the topic in the TOC and choose the icon you want to use for that.
  4. Publish the project WITHOUT a skin.
You can then get the icon files from the output folder.

A hundred thanks for the icon solution! Still have not tried it, but I read it and know that this is what I need.
