Icon (Windows only) is blurry

Unread post by BertholdL »

In the export settings for ewriter help I use an icon (format *.ico).

In the ewriter helpfile the result is:
  • In the Windows task bar the icon is blurry and bold.
My ico file contains several sizes from 16×16 to 256×256.

It seems that instead of the 24×24 icon one of the bigger icons is displayed (48×48 or bigger).
    Result_big_taskbar.png
On the screenshot my ewriter help is to the right; to the left is my ico file renamed to exe and fixed to the taskbar for comparison (brilliant icon as should be).

    Another test:
Exporting with a customized ico file that contains only the 16, 20 an 24 resolutions.
    The result is the same.

Still another test: Windows taskbar setting “Show small task bar icons”.
    Result_small_taskbar.png
Here the result is as desired: 16×16 for both icons.
  • In the upper left corner the icon is not centered:
    Icon_upper_left.png
Or is it just too little? It could fill the whole square to the full height of the title bar.
What can I do about it? Is it an eviewer issue?
And is it possible to control (deactivate) the icon in the upper left corner and in the Windows task bar separately? I could imagine using the icon only in the taskbar, not in the upper left corner.

The two ico files have been sent to support AT ec-software.com, maybe you can reproduce the case.

Thanks. We're looking into it. It may take a couple of days before you get an answer on this as there are a number of other projects being worked on and slightly unclear icons don't have top priority at the moment. 8)

Thank you for your research and your hints regarding the programme icons.

I have some news that may be useful for your bugfixing:

The latest eViewer.exe (version 5.4.0.0) takes always the 32 × 32 icon:

Continued:

The previous version (5.3.1.0) of the eViewer takes always 16 × 16:
Taskbar_big_old.png
So it is obvious that it is the eViewer that makes the difference.

In the screenshot the icon on the right is always the ewriter file. The icon to the left is our sample file to show how it should look like.

The ico file with the numbers instead of icons for your tests will be sent via e-mail.

I hope you can help me.
